Pangea: Ark of knowledge exchange programme

In order to stem the tide of industrialisation in our food system, we need new Farmers. Lots of them

Pangea, the Ark of Knowledge apprenticeship project, seeks to ensure that the knowledge of traditional agriculture, sustainable practices and of master artisans is passed on to younger generations. In doing so, the project builds leadership and increases opportunities for mentorship and exchange.

Enthusiastic students, young farmers, and cooks are placed in short-term apprenticeship positions with producers, chefs, fisherman, brewers, and winemakers who are skilled in sustainable, artisanal production and cultivation methods. Producers enjoy the experience of mentorship and receive help with their work, in return, apprentices learn rare and invaluable skills and have an eye opening experience to food philosophy and cultural identity.

Every apprentice is required to catalogue and document the experience through a reflection project on the traditional techniques they learn, the people behind them and the understanding of the value for their continued use. These projects make up the Ark of Knowledge.
