About the Youth Food Movement...
History of the YFM...
Inspired by the action and initiatives already taking place in communities around the world, the Youth Food Movement was launched in 2007 at the international Slow Food Leader's Congress in Puebla, Mexico. At this gathering, young food activists already involved with the Slow Food organization gathered to present their vision of a just and sustainable future.
Their hope has been that individual activism and community projects can be strengthened through the creation of a collaboration network.
So today we are joining people and projects, and sharing the knowledge and experience behind them to make our voice in the world that much louder and our power for change that much stronger.
Slow Food provides the ideological foundation of the Youth Food Movement and will continue to support its projects in a mutual exchange.
In the UK we want to bring humour, fun and pleasure into life whilst making a positive change in our food world which in turn improves our social, environmental and economical existence.
